Wildlife Park and Castel Belfort
“Mummy, daddy, I want to see the bears!”
If this is something you hear a lot during your family mountain holiday, you will be delighted to know that there is a special place near Andalo where you can get a close look at bears, as well as wolves and lynxes.
Welcome to the Spormaggiore Wildlife Park, just outside Andalo, which has recently been renamed BelPark.
The perfect place to bring your children to see wild mountain animals, making lasting memories.
The park is designed to allow families to meet wolves face-to-face or to watch the three brown bears sleeping peacefully just a few metres away from you.
These are also eagle owls, lynxes and foxes: many of the animals from children’s fairytales live here and visitors can get a close but perfectly safe view of them. In addition to the areas that house the Alpine carnivores, the Spormaggiore Wildlife Park also features a farmyard area where the whole family can meet more animals that are so popular with children: goats, rabbits, hens, guinea fowl and not forgetting the ponies!
The Park also offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about alpine flora, in the form of beech, spruce and larch trees. Elsewhere, there is a playground for children and an area where they can enjoy refreshments and a rest after all the excitement.
A visit to the castle and a chance to learn about the smallest and hardest working of all animals
The big animals will immediately capture your children’s attention, and so will the bees.
At Castel Belfort, a 14th century manor house in a panoramic position, families can visit the apiary, another important part of this region’s ecosystem. Here you can learn about these hard-working little insects, find out more about their mysterious lives, and savour the aroma and sweetness of their produce.
Above all, you and your children can learn about the crucial role they play as pollinators, appreciating the importance of these vital little creatures.
